Methodology

How we research and review content

Each educational page follows the same sourcing, drafting, review, and update cycle.

Medically reviewed by Dr. Ariel Ortiz Lagardere, MD, FACS, FASMBS. Last reviewed: June 1, 2026.

1. Sourcing

We prioritize peer-reviewed literature (PubMed/MEDLINE), society guidelines (ASMBS, ASGE, IFSO), FDA-cleared device documentation, and consensus statements from academic bariatric centers. Non-peer-reviewed sources are used only for context and are labeled as such.

2. Drafting

Content is drafted by editors familiar with obesity medicine and endoscopy. Statistics are cited with source and year; ranges rather than point estimates are used when the literature is heterogeneous.

3. Clinical review

Every educational page is reviewed by a bariatric and metabolic surgeon (see Medical Review Board) before publication. Reviewers may request revisions, additional sources, or new safety context.

4. Review cadence

Pages are re-reviewed at least annually and immediately when significant new evidence, guideline updates, or safety signals emerge.

5. Corrections

Report errors to info@endoscopicsleeveguide.com. Substantive corrections are dated in the reviewer byline.
